The state government's flagship sporting event—Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan (ਖੇਡਾਂ ਵਤਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀਆਂ)—is officially back for the 2026 season, bringing the highly anticipated state-level archery competitions with it.
What the Games Are All About
Launched by the Punjab government in 2022 to discover, nurture, and reward grassroots sporting talent, Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan has rapidly grown into one of India's most massive sports initiatives.
Recent editions have seen an incredible turnout, drawing over 5 lakh athletes across 35+ sports and multiple age groups. The stakes are high, with a total prize pool exceeding ₹9 crore. For most sports, the competition runs in tiers—progressing from block to district, and finally to the state level. Every state-level medallist takes home both a certificate and a cash reward, historically set at ₹10,000 for gold, ₹7,000 for silver, and ₹5,000 for bronze.
