For Punjab's archers, it is time to grab a pen and circle the most important dates on the calendar. The state government's flagship sporting event—Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan (ਖੇਡਾਂ ਵਤਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀਆਂ)—is officially back for the 2026 season, bringing the highly anticipated state-level archery competitions with it.
What the Games Are All About
Launched by the Punjab government in 2022 to discover, nurture, and reward grassroots sporting talent, Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan has rapidly grown into one of India's most massive sports initiatives.
Recent editions have seen an incredible turnout, drawing over 5 lakh athletes across 35+ sports and multiple age groups. The stakes are high, with a total prize pool exceeding ₹9 crore. For most sports, the competition runs in tiers—progressing from block to district, and finally to the state level. Every state-level medallist takes home both a certificate and a cash reward, historically set at ₹10,000 for gold, ₹7,000 for silver, and ₹5,000 for bronze.
The 2026 Official Schedule
The fourth season is coming back bigger than ever, and the official roadmap is finally here. The Punjab Sports Department has confirmed the dates for this year’s multi-tiered event:
-
Block Level Tournaments: September 3rd – September 15th
-
District Level Tournaments: September 20th – September 30th
-
State Level Finals: October 10th – October 28th
How to Prepare
Registration for the games is entirely free and will be processed online through the official portal and local district sports offices once the registration window opens. To ensure you are ready, the association advises club archers to take the following steps:
-
Treat it as a scored target date: Work backward from the October timeline. Build your practice blocks so that your distance-and-face routines are peaking by early autumn.
-
Get your paperwork ready now: Don't wait for the last-minute rush. Gather your age proof, Aadhaar, and residence documents today. District offices get overwhelmingly crowded once the official games begin.
-
Coaches, enter your full rosters: Club and school coaches are encouraged to register their entire training groups. Because the games feature extensive age brackets, everyone from enthusiastic beginners to seasoned veterans has a genuine opportunity to shoot and compete.
We will publish the exact archery-specific dates, venue assignments, and any state-selection implications on this site as soon as the Sports Department releases the final discipline-specific breakdown. If clubs have questions regarding eligibility or equipment classes, please reach out to our office via the contact page.
