India's women's compound team of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Chikitha Taniparthi claimed the silver medal at Archery World Cup Stage 4 in Madrid, falling to Colombia 232–228 in a high-scoring gold-medal match on Saturday.
Colombia — anchored by Sara Lopez and Alejandra Usquiano — set a relentless pace, with Usquiano at one point reeling off eight consecutive 10s. India stayed in touch through Prithika Pradeep, whose six 10s included two perfect ends, but a final-arrow eight from Taniparthi ended any hope of forcing the match closer, and the Colombians closed out the title by four points.
The silver adds to what has been a consistent season for India's compound women, who took team titles earlier in the year and continue to qualify among the top seeds at every stage.
There was more to look forward to from Madrid the same weekend: Prithika Pradeep advanced to the women's compound individual semi-finals, while Kirti and Dhiraj Bommadevara lined up in the recurve mixed-team bronze match.
Compound archery continues to grow in Punjab's clubs, and results like this from the national women's team — built on depth across three scoring archers — show why the team round rewards squads that train together all season.
